Saint Details

St. Kiara, an Irish virgin, was born in the 7th century in Tipperary, Ireland. Her early life remains largely undocumented, but her adult years are marked by significant religious contributions. In 625, Kiara, along with five other women, founded a monastery called Tech-Telle. This establishment was made possible after they received land from Saint Fintan, a prominent religious figure of the time, and it was named in honor of Saint Telle. Kiara's strong faith was widely respected, as evidenced by a notable event where her prayers were credited with saving a nearby town from a fire. The townspeople sought her intercession, and after she prayed, the fire ceased. Kiara continued to dedicate her life to religious work, governing another monastery until her death around 680. Her feast days are observed on October 16 and January 5. While the exact date of her canonization is not documented, her legacy as a devoted servant of God has endured through the centuries, inspiring generations with her commitment to faith and service. Kiara's contributions to the establishment of monasteries and her revered faith have solidified her place in Irish religious history.
