Saint Details
St. Mary Magdalene is one of the most enigmatic and revered figures in Christian tradition. While her exact birth and death years remain unknown, she is believed to have lived in the 1st century AD in the region of Galilee, Israel. Mary Magdalene is prominently featured in the New Testament Gospels as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She is often identified as the woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons (Luke 8:2), marking her transformation into a faithful disciple. Mary Magdalene played a pivotal role in Jesus" ministry, accompanying him and supporting his work alongside other women (Luke 8:1-3). Her most significant moment in the Gospels occurs during the Passion narrative. She was present at the Crucifixion (Matthew 27:56, Mark 15:40, John 19:25) and, most importantly, was the first witness to the Resurrection. According to the Gospel of John (20:11-18), Mary Magdalene encountered the risen Christ at the empty tomb, earning her the title "Apostle to the Apostles" as she was the first to announce the Resurrection to the disciples.
