Documented life events include his education at the University of Padua, his ordination as a priest in 1506, and his founding of the Theatines, a religious order dedicated to serving the poor and reforming the clergy, in 1524 in Rome. His religious work focused on preaching, charitable works, and advocating for social justice, particularly aiding the poor and unemployed during a time of significant economic hardship in Italy. Cajetan's efforts to establish institutions dedicated to assisting those in need, such as the Monte di Pietà, which provided low-interest loans, are well-documented.
